October 23
So…as of right now the ship is going to stay here in port until the 27th and we should have liberty until then.
October 25
Today was nice because it was the first full day of liberty. So this morning and all afternoon we just kinda hung out, watched TV, and read, which was really nice. Also, the dim sum we had for lunch was really good. Tonight we went out to a burger place that was pretty good and on the way back they were doing a firework show near the beach so we stopped to watch it for a little bit. Like I said, though, I’m gonna be staying in tonight. Adams is the only other guy staying in so it’ll be nice and quiet in the room and on ship.
October 26
We had dim sum again for lunch and it was so good…it tastes pretty much exactly like the place that Clay, my Mom, and I used to go for Dim Sum in Atlanta.
October 27
This is the first day back on ship and we’re already all bored as hell. I’ve got books to read and movies to watch but I think the worst thing for everyone is that we won’t have liberty again until we get back to Okinawa and we are playing absolutely no role in the exercise that’s going on in the next couple weeks. We asked to just go straight to Okinawa but the MEU commander said no. We should be back in Okinawa on Nov 18th at the latest
