Yay for Otterbox!

I went running yesterday morning, and I was feeling so good. I was almost a mile away from the house, I checked my MapMyRun app that was clocking me on my phone, saw that I was going at a 6:14 min/mi pace and was like YEAH, GIRL!! So proud of myself...all is awesome...and then I feel like a brick or something (which turned out to be MAYBE a half of an inch difference from one sidewalk tile to the next, which I've run on a million times before) in front of my right toe. I tripped, fell, rolled, and skidded to a stop. My first thought was, "I'm so glad I didn't wear my running pants or they'd be all shredded up right now!" Even though it was cold, I wore shorts. Which didn't help in protecting my skin, but at least I didn't destroy a piece of my wardrobe! One of my earbuds came out of my ear, and I mean even the rubber padding had come off...I checked my phone, and it was fine, my wedding ring was scuffed up, my knees are banged up, and I've got some scratches on my right quad and shin from the skidding part of the whole production. I fell in front of a house where a man and his little girl were in the garage fixing her bike. She was like nine. When I fell I said a bad word, and then as I gathered myself to stand back up, I said another bad word...I mean I didn't exactly check my surroundings beforehand, sorry. They came out to check and make sure I was okay and we talked for a minute, he was like, "That was a pretty bad fall, you were flying!" I can only IMAGINE what I must have looked like. But I apologized to him and his daughter for saying bad words, and he laughed and was like, "I would have said the same thing." So anyway, I brushed off and finished my run. When I got home, I realized my phone's case was scuffed up and ripped. So I took off the silicone rubbery part and noticed that the plastic underneath the silicone was also scuffed. Good grief!

Um, yes that is a wooden puzzle as the background. I cannot escape the toys.

Now, this is a case I got for FREE from Otterbox when my previous phone fell off the top of the jogging stroller and the screen shattered, even though it was in another type of Otterbox case. I called and asked them if they had any type of guarantee with their products or anything, and the guy sent me an EVEN BETTER case than the one I already had...for free. And I was SO NICE, I didn't complain or anything, I was seriously just curious. I even turned down his offer at first, because I was thinking...why would I want another one of these cases? But the guy basically insisted; his exact words were, "I feel like it's the least I can do." He even told me that it'd be a little bit more bulky than the case I was using, but it provided much better protection. Oh yeah, and the amazing guy at the Apple store hooked me up with a new iPhone for zero dollars and zero cents. It's amazing what a couple of screaming babies will do for ya ;) aka..."Oh, you broke your phone? Here's a new one, take it, get out!"

So anyway, I just want to sing some praises for this Otterbox iPhone case. It's the Defender series, and it's pretty amazing. I mean Sawyer has taken the phone out of the diaper bag and dropped in the grocery store parking lot while I'm putting Greyson into his carseat, and I thought FOR SURE it was going to be smashed again, but no. Greyson will chew and slobber all over the thing - no damage to the phone. The case I had before was the Commuter. I do not recommend that one. First of all, Pat and I both had it, and it has never really fit Pat's phone. I think the black rubber (his is black, mine was white) is much softer so it doesn't hold its shape as well, so the hard plastic case that goes around the soft rubber never really fits over it correctly. Secondly, well, as I've already mentioned...it doesn't really protect your phone from a drop. So anyway...if you're looking for a new case, look here: www.otterbox.com. Then, once you have it, you know you've got a product made by a company who has EXCELLENT customer service!

Aside from blowing sunshine up Otterbox's you-know-what...I also want to leave you with this: I felt no pain whatsoever until I got home and stopped. Lesson: NEVER STOP!
I mean how did I even touch the sidewalk in all those places in one fall?!?! hahahaha Oh my GAH.
