I just have to share how lucky I am with everyone. I have the sweetest husband and the best baby boy in the world. Here's the most recent thing that has made me realize how great Pat is: My back has been bothering me lately, with the pregnancy and Sawyer weighing as much as he does, and our mattress is just entirely too soft for me these days, so I'd been sleeping in the guest room on the mattress that's more firm. Well, Pat joined me for a few nights in there, but really with all the pillows I prop up against my sides in into my back, there just wasn't enough room on that bed for both of us. (I liked it better when I had it to myself is basically what I'm saying!) So Pat kept asking me if I was going to sleep in the guest room again and when I'd say "yes" he'd give me a sad face, so I asked him if he could flip our mattress and see what the other side is like. Ha! The side we'd been sleeping on is the only side you're supposed to sleep on with this huge pillow top and everything, and the other side is basically like a board with some fabric over it. But seriously that pillow top is so soft that I'd wake up at 5 or 6 and my back would be hurting so bad I'd just get up because I couldn't lay there anymore! And all night I'd be trying to get comfortable...ugh. I asked if we could try it anyway, and he flipped the mattress. We've been sleeping on this rock hard - wrong side of the mattress now for a couple weeks and it's SO much better (for me)! What a sweet guy for giving up his comfy mattress, right?? He always says stuff like, "I've slept on the hood of a humvee before, this is fine", or "Do you know how many times I've slept in the rain? I don't care how hard the mattress is." And he really does sleep like a rock in any situation so I believe him, but still, what a sweetheart!
And Sawyer has been SO AMAZING lately. Sleeping 12 hours at night, taking two separate hour long, sometimes longer, naps during the day...ON SCHEDULE! Waking up so nicely in the mornings and just being such a good boy all day long. Gah. He's so smart, too. We're having so much fun teaching him different things. Recently it's been sounds of animals and he knows the fish face lip pop thing, and the monkey's oo oo. He knows so many words now, it's incredible. We're switching him from soy to real milk so he can do this lactose tolerance test since he had the Duarte variant of Galactosemia show up on his newborn screening test, and it's taken a week or so but he's finally liking the real milk I think. He's just so easy, I can't believe it. Oh and when he wakes up from this nap he's taking right now, we're gonna go to "open gym" at Romp N Roll...yay! Can't wait!
